Carmel High School ranked #288 in the nation and #56 in the Stage of California

US News released their ranking of public school across the nation today. Carmel High School ranked fairly high in the standings based on test scores, availability of Advance Placement classes, student teacher ratios and other metrics. The high quality of the Carmel School district schools (three elementary, one middle school and the high school) has a material impact on home values within the district as families rent or buy to send their children to the schools. I am a father … Continue reading Carmel High School ranked #288 in the nation and #56 in the Stage of California

March 16-23 in Carmel and Pebble Beach

Pebble Beach is dominating the luxury market lately and that is quite a change from last year when Carmel drove the high end while Pebble Beach stalled.  Four properties closed escrow in Pebble this past week, including an off-market property close to the Lodge that sold for $3.35M after having sold (also off-market) 9 months ago at $3M.  Two other closings came in at $2M each and one lonely <$1M listing closed. CRC brought on a spectacular 17 Mile Drive  … Continue reading March 16-23 in Carmel and Pebble Beach

March 9 – 16th in Carmel and Pebble Beach

Momentum of new sales in Carmel was sustained this past week with a $3.9M property north of Ocean Ave. going into escrow and 5 other homes in the <$1.5M range also selling; this very active segment of the market is still the most competitive one.  Four of these 6 new sales had ocean views, as always, a key driver in Carmel and Pebble Beach.  Two properties closed escrow at $525K and $480K as buyers snap these bargains up as soon … Continue reading March 9 – 16th in Carmel and Pebble Beach

March 2, 2012 The Carmel real estate market had another stellar week and, although 7 of the 8 new sales were in the <$1M price range, one new escrow was for a $4.59M property in the Golden Rectangle giving a boost to this segment of the market which has been slower coming alive in Carmel than it has been in Pebble Beach. A cottage outside of the GR sold immediately at $739K this week and another cottage in the GR … Continue reading Feb. 24 – March 2 in Carmel and Pebble Beach

The week of Feb. 17 – 24 in Carmel and Pebble Beach

Feb. 24, 2012 Carmel experienced a veritable surge in new sales this past week with ten properties going into escrow, perhaps as a result of the AT&T Golf Tournament but more likely these new sales are a result of some pent-up buyer demand coupled with a recalibration of seller expectations. Properties with ocean views dominated at the higher ranges, including a mid-century classic in the Carmel Meadows area with panoramic views going into escrow at $3.9M, a Carmel Highlands Mediterranean … Continue reading The week of Feb. 17 – 24 in Carmel and Pebble Beach
