My Annual Market Report

My Note for My Annual Market Report   2013 was our strongest yet in real estate since 2007!  It can be categorized by a significant turnaround in the housing market here in California, as well as across the nation.  The lack of homes available for sale constrained sales in most markets, both on The Peninsula and across most of California.  As we now know, this constraint contributed to a substantial increase in home prices.   The home prices increased and slowing […]

Is Real Estate Addicting?

IS REAL ESTATE ADDICTING?   ‘Tis the season of the holiday parties, celebrating and spending time with friends and family we don’t often see.   Most of the conversation will be about the adventures of the year, showing pictures of children or animals, discussing old friends, but trust me, at some point your conversation may pass by real estate.   Whether it be what the house next door sold for, or what you think you house is valued at, it’s just inevitable the conversation will turn […]

A Look Forward: What to Expect in 2014

As 2013 comes to a close, I wanted to look back at the last few months and share some predictions on where 2014 may be going. The Monterey Peninsula led the recovery about 6 months ago. Activity, pricing and sales were all on the rise the first half of 2013. But the summer months leveled off. The enthusiasm over the national real estate outlook you are reading about in the media has already happened here. We were in front of […]

Carmel and Pebble Beach Real Estate Update Sept. 20-27, 2013

This past week was a bit of a snoozer with only 2 new listings  and 4 new sales in our target areas…down, down goes the inventory.  The only new sale in Carmel was a cottage on Torres (I am representing the buyer) asking $995K and the only new listing is a remodeled home across the highway asking $1.5M.  Six properties closed escrow in Carmel this week in Carmel including my oceanfront listing on Calle La Cruz that closed […]

This Week in Carmel and Pebble Beach Sept. 6 – 13, 2013

There was a welcomed uptick in the number of available homes in Carmel this week with 9 new listings coming on the market.  Included was a Scenic Road cottage off Ocean Ave. and not directly on the beach, asking $3.69M and a lovely Carmel Point area newish cottage close to the beach that is asking $2.3M.  Of the 7 remaining new listings, 4 were homes on the east side of Highway 1.  Four properties went into escrow in Carmel, including a San Carlos […]

Carmel and Pebble Beach Update Aug. 9 – 23, 2013

Another Classic Car Week is in the books and, as always, we expect a residual benefit a week or month later as buyers regroup from the melee and get serious about property acquisitions. There is a sense that there is a bit of a breather at the moment, however, 10 properties have gone into escrow in Carmel and four in PB, not a significant downturn at all. although most were in the lower price ranges.  Six of the new sales in Carmel were […]

This Week in Carmel and Pebble Beach Aug. 2 – 9, 2013

This week, new sales were in higher price ranges in Carmel, rather than Pebble Beach, with 2 properties over $2.5M going into escrow – an ocean view contemporary on 8 acres high above Carmel went into escrow with an asking price of $3.9M and a new Mediterranean offered at $2.79M in the heart of Carmel’s Golden Rectangle found a buyer right away.  The only other new sale in Carmel was a one-bedroom cottage tear-down on Isabella asking $1.47M (just yards from the beach). There […]

What does it Cost to Live Ocean Front on the Peninsula?

A City by City comparison of  the cost to live ocean front on the Monterey Peninsula     With work and two young children, besides an occasional Food Network marathon of CHOPPED, I rarely have time to stop and watch the TV.   But I do love when MSN or CNN does a spotlight on “What kind of home can you buy for “X” dollars.”  I love those 3 minute segments,  they pick 5 houses located across our wonderful country and […]
